Let \(K\) be a field, \(S=K[x_1,\dots,x_n]\) be the ring of polynomials and \(I\) be a graded ideal of \(S\). Let \(\beta_i(I^k)=\dim_K\mathrm{Tor}_i(I^k,K)\). There exist a polynomials \(P_i(I)\) such that \(\beta_i(I^k)=P_{i+1}(I)(k)\) for \(k\gg 0\) and \(i=1,\dots,n-1\). The polynomials \(P_i(I)\) are called the Kodiyalam polynomials of \(I\). Let \(\ell(I)\) be the analytic spread of \(I\) and \(r(I)\) be the largest number \(k\) such that \(\mathrm{def }P_k(I)=\ell(I)-1\). In this paper under review, the author show that \(r(I)=\ell(I)\) under the assumption that the Rees ring \(\mathbf{R}(I)\) of \(I\) is Cohen-Macaulay and that the fiber \(\mathbf{R}(I)/m\mathbf{R}(I)\) is a domain, where \(m=(x_1,\ldots,x_n)\) is the graded maximal ideal of \(S\). He applies this result to polymatroidal ideals and gives an example.
