The manuscript is devoted to the study of mappings in metric spaces. In a fairly wide class of spaces, the author defines the space of prime ends, the formal definition of which is based on a decreasing sequence of nested sets, as well as on the Mazurkiewicz metric. At the same time, the author defines some class of mappings consistent with the space of prime ends in such a way that the mappings included in it have a continuous boundary extension in the corresponding sense. Note that the indicated class of mappings is associated with the distortion of the so-called inner distance between points of the domain of a metric space. It is also worth noting that, in a wide class of domains, this class includes quasiconformal mappings in the sense of Väisälä's geometric definition. Note that the author independently considers several cases, in particular, the case when a homeomorphism extends to a continuous extension of closures of domains, the case when this extension is homeomorphic, and also the case when this extension is a homeomorphism between the usual closure of a domain in the preimage and the closure in the sense of the prime ends in the image under the mapping.
