The main theorem is the following: Theorem. Let $Y$ be a closed connected three-manifold, let $\lambda$ be a non-degenerate contact form on $Y$, let $\xi=\ker(\lambda)$ be the contact structure associated to $\lambda$. If $c_1(\xi)\in H^2(Y,Z)$ is torsion, then $\lambda$ has either two or infinitely many simple Reeb orbits. Some additional results obtained by the application of this theorem are also presented.
