Classifying Lie algebras is an extremely difficult problem due to the vast number of them; an uncountably infinite number for dimensions greater than nine.The present work studies the problem by means of successive central extensions. The plan is to calculte the second cohomology group and then studying the geometry of the orbit space of the action of the automorphism group on certain Grassmannians.
