In this paper the authors produce several explicit families of elliptic curves over \(\mathbb{Q}(t)\) which have Mordell-Weil rank at least \(5\). The family studied has the Weierstrass model \[y^2=(x-A)(x-B)(x-C)+D\] with various choices of polynomials \(A,B,C,D\in\mathbb{Q}[t]\). In particular, the authors link one of their families of elliptic curves to the classical problem of rational cuboids. Proving the existence of \(5\) linearly independent points leads the authors to new parametrizations of rational cuboids. The fair amount of the work is focused on the discussion of various clever substitutions leading to the plethora of points. To prove the linear independence of points the authors perform a specialization and compute numerically regulators of points over \(\mathbb{Q}\).
