Automorphic equivalence within gapped phases in the bulk (Q2291612)

The authors prove a new adiabatic theorem for unique gapped ground states. For SPT phases, previously it has been required to have a uniform spectral gap for corresponding local Hamiltonians. The authors' results no longer require the existence of this gap; rather, a gap in the bulk is required. A smoothness constraint on localized observables is also required; but, these assumptions are weaker than the requirement of the gap of the local Hamiltonians.
