Nyström-quasilinearization method and smoothing transformation for the numerical solution of nonlinear weakly singular Fredholm integral equations (Q2292018)

This paper introduces and analyzes a numerical solution method for nonlinear weakly singular Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Under some mild conditions, a quasilinearization technique gives a sequence of linear integral equations whose solutions are quadratically convergent to the unique solution of the nonlinear equation. These linear equations are solved by applying an appropriate smoothing transformation, based on the known singularities at the boundaries, followed by a Nyström method. An error analysis is given, and confirmed by several numerical examples.
