In the present paper, a characterization is given, via compact-star networks, of \(cs\)-metrizable spaces and \(k\)-metrizable spaces. The following are the main results of this exposition. Theorem 1. The following are equivalent, for a \(cs\)-metrizable space \(X\) (1) \(X\) has a \(cs\)-star network consisting of \(cs'\)-covers (2) \(X\) has a \(cs\)-star network consisting of \(so\)-covers (3) \(X\) has a Cauchy \(sn\)-symmetry \(d\) such that for each convergent set \(T\) in \(X\), \(\{B_d(T,1/n); n\in \mathbb N\}\) is a network at \(T\) in \(X\). Theorem 2. The following are equivalent, for a \(k\)-metrizable space \(X\) (1) \(X\) has a compact-star network consisting of \(k\)-open covers (2) \(X\) is an image of a metric space under a \(k\)-quotient and \(C\)-mapping (3) \(X\) is an image of a metric space under a \(k\)-mapping. Further aspects occasioned by these developments are also being discussed.
