In this paper, \(\Sigma_{g,1}\) is a compact oriented surface of genus \(g\geq 1\) with one boundary component. The authors contribute to the understanding of the Johnson cokernels of the mapping class group of such surfaces by establishing relations between several constructions. In the paper [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 14, No. 2, 627--669 (2014; Zbl 1347.20049)], \textit{N. Enomoto} and \textit{T. Satoh} introduced new classes in the Johnson cokernels of the mapping class groups of \(\Sigma_{g,1}\) by a representation theoretic approach using the so-called Sp-homomorphism. In the paper [Ann. Inst. Fourier 65, No. 6, 2711--2762 (2015; Zbl 1370.57009)], \textit{N. Kawazumi} and \textit{Y. Kuno} introduced another type of classes by a topological consideration of self-intersections of loops in \(\Sigma_{g,1}\), based on a graded version of the Turaev co-bracket. In the paper under review, the authors show that the classes found in the second paper mentioned are contained in the classes found in the first paper in a stable range. Furthermore, they prove that the anti-Morita obstructions [\(1^{4m+1}\)] for \(m \geq 1\) obtained in the first paper mentioned above, and a hook-type component [\(3, 1^5\)] detected in the paper [\textit{H. Enomoto} and \textit{N. Enomoto}, J. Lie Theory 24, No. 3, 687--704 (2014; Zbl 1353.20031)] appear in their gap.
