Intersection graphs are well studied. Let \(R\) be a commutative ring and \(M\) be a unital \(R\)-module. The intersection graph of submodules of \(M,\) denoted by \(G_M,\) is the graph whose vertex set is the collection of all submodules of \(M\) and in which two distinct vertices \(A\) and \(B\) are adjacent if and only if \(A\cap B\neq \phi.\) Using the notion of essentiality of modules, the authors study the intersection graph \(G_M,\) of submodules of \(M.\) In fact this notion, serves as a tool in characterizing the center of intersection graph \(G_M\) of submodules of \(M.\) In this attempt, the authors define the mna (maximal non-adjacent) vertex in \(G_M\) and observe some of its characteristics. The notion of a complemented intersection graph exhibits some significant algebraic and graphical properties.
