The paper features 52 notions of a large set in a semigroup. Some of the sets are considered to be large if they contain a kind of progressions of any given length, other ones are said to be large because they intersect a considerable part of arbitrarily long segments. The author also defines syndetic sets and thick sets \(A\); these are large in the sense that some versions of translations of \(A\) cover the whole semigroup or, respectively, \(A\) contains a translation of any given finite set. If the semigroup is commutative, then there are quite a few coincidences between the notions in question so only 24 of them are different. The author presents various implications that exist between the introduced notions and examples of failure of a number of other implications.
