The authors study contractions of Lie group unitary representations in the setting of geometric quantization. More precisely, they introduce a notion of admissible contraction of (integral) coadjoint orbits which leads to contraction of the corresponding holomorphic representations obtained by geometric quantization of these orbits. This method works, in particular, for contractions of compact groups to locally solvable type I Lie group. A typical example is the contraction of \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\) to the \(3\)-dimensional Heisenberg group, see [\textit{F. Ricci}, Monatsh. Math. 101, 211--225 (1986; Zbl 0588.43007)].
