An integral domain \(D\) such that for every prime ideal \(\mathfrak p\) the loca\-li\-zation \(D_{\mathfrak p}\) is a Krull domain is called an \textit{almost Krull domain \/} [\textit{E. M. Pirtle jun.}, J. Sci. Hiroshima Univ., Ser. A-I 32, 441--447 (1968; Zbl 0181.04903)]. The authors introduce a certain star operation \(*\) in an arbitrary domain and show that if every \(*\)-ideal of \(D\) is \(*\)-invertible, then \(D\) is almost Krull (Proposition 1.8), pointing out that the converse of this implication does not hold. They consider also for an almost Krull domain \(D\) with quotient field \(K\) the ring \[\operatorname{Int}(D)=\{f\in K[X]: f(D)\subset D\}\] of integer-valued polynomials over \(D\), show that it is locally free as an \(D\)-module (Theorem 2.3) and establish that for an arbitrary domain \(D\) the ring \(\operatorname{Int}(D)\) is almost Krull if and only if \(D\) is almost Krull and \(\operatorname{Int}(D)=D[X]\) (Theorem 2.6).
