The author studies the wave equation in an interval with two linearly moving endpoints. He gives the exact solution by a series formula and shows that the energy of the solution decays at the rate \(1/t\). Moreover, he establishs observability results (as in [\textit{K. Ammari} et al., J. Appl. Anal. 23, No. 1, 43--51 (2017; Zbl 1365.35088)], see also, [\textit{K. Ammari} et al., Eur. J. Control 39, 35--38 (2018; Zbl 1379.35169)]), at one or at both endpoints, in a sharp time and by using the Hilbert uniqueness method he derives exact boundary controllability results.
