This paper constitutes the continuation of the authors' investigation of topological centres of convolution algebras started in [J. Funct. Anal. 250, No. 1, 144--166 (2007; Zbl 1125.43002)]. Let \(G\) be a non-compact locally compact group with a continuous submultiplicative weight function \(\omega\) such that \(\omega(e_G) = 1\) and \(\omega\) is diagonally bounded with bound \(K\geq1\). When \(G\) is \(\sigma\)-compact, the authors show that \(\lfloor K\rfloor + 1\) many points in the spectrum of the algebra \(\mathrm{LUC}(\omega^{-1})\) of bounded left uniformly continuous functions are enough to determine the topological centre of \(\mathrm{LUC}(\omega^{-1})^*\). A group \(G\) is called a SIN-group if it has a neighbourhood base at the identity consisting of symmetric, invariant neighbourhoods. For such groups, the authors establish that \(\lfloor K\rfloor + 2\) many points in the spectrum of \(L^\infty(\omega^{-1})\) are enough to determine the topological centre of \(L^\infty(\omega^{-1})^{**}\). They deduce that the topological centre of \(\mathrm{LUC}(\omega^{-1})^*\) is the weighted measure algebra \(M(\omega)\) and that of \(C_0(\omega^{-1})^\perp\) is trivial for any locally compact group. The topological centre of \(L^1(\omega)^{**}\) is \(L^1(\omega)\) and that of \(L_0^\infty(\omega)^\perp\) is trivial for any non-compact locally compact SIN-group. The same techniques apply and lead to similar results when \(G\) is a weakly cancellative right cancellative discrete semigroup.
