The authors study transfinite interpolation by bivariate functions of low rank and investigate its uniqueness and approximation power. They prove that the result is identical to the result of \textit{J. Schneider}'s CA2D algorithm [J. Approx. Theory 162, No. 9, 1685--1700 (2010; Zbl 1208.41017)]. They use a tensor-product version of bivariate divided differences to obtain a new error bound that establishes the same approximation order for \(n\)-fold transfinite interpolation.
