The authors consider a right quaternionic Hilbert space \(\mathcal{H}\) and a quaternionic normal operator \(T\) with domain \(\mathcal{D}(T)\subset\mathcal{H}\). They prove the existence of a Hilbert basis \(\mathcal{N}\) of \(\mathcal{H}\), of a measurable space \((\Omega_0,\nu)\), and of a unitary operator \(U:\mathcal{H}\mapsto L^2(\Omega_0;\mathcal{H};\nu)\) such that \(Tx=U^*M_\eta Ux\) for all \(x\in\mathcal{D}(T)\), where \(\eta:\Omega_0\mapsto\mathbb{C}\) is a \(\nu\)-measurable function, and \(M_\eta\) is the multiplication operator induced by the function \(\eta\) on \( L^2(\Omega_0;\mathcal{H};\nu)\), with the property \(U(\mathcal{D}(T))\subset\mathcal{D}(M_\eta)\). This result is a variant, in the quaternionic framework, of the classical result asserting that a normal operator in a complex Hilbert space is unitarily equivalent to some multiplication operator. Unlike in several quoted papers dedicated to this subject in the quaternion setting, and using other approaches, this result is the multiplication form of the spectral theorem.
