The article applies the multiscale asymptotic expansion method to composite structures with periodic microstructures while finding the solution of linear static problems. The authors use well-known methods of the normalization condition, the oversampling technique and the super unit cell approach in periodic part in order to improve the accuracy of solution. They consider a lot of different periodic part forms. They also investigate different variants of asymptotic expansion method. Good conformity of the results with a direct solution obtained using the finite element method shows the effectiveness of the homogenized elastic constants and the necessity of usage of the first two expansion terms. The authors present conclusions on evaluation of the asymptotic expansion order. Additionally, to effectively resolve the problems with any structural boundary conditions, the authors propose to combine multiscale asymptotic expansion method with the multiscale eigenelement method. This work can be recommended as a computational method for linear static problems for periodically heterogeneous structures.
