Some sufficient conditions are established for the existence of solutions for some classes of variational inequalities, optimization problems and elliptic boundary value problems. This analysis is essentially developed in the abstract setting of Hilbert spaces. The strategy of the proofs consists in establishing new best proximity point properties in metric spaces by introducing the concept of cyclic orbital simulative contractions. Numerical results complement the main abstract results established.
