Let \(V\) be a locally linearly compact vector space, \(\phi:V\rightarrow V\) a continuous endomorphism and \(\mathcal{B}(V)\) the set of all linearly compact open linear subspaces of \(V\). In [the authors and \textit{A. Giordano Bruno}, Topology Appl. 252, 112--144 (2019; Zbl 1422.22009)] the definition of the topological entropy of \(\phi\), namely, \(\text{ent}^*(\phi)\) is given by \(\text{ent}^*(\phi)=\sup\{H^*(\phi,U): \,U\in \mathcal{B}(V)\},\) where \(H^*(\phi,U)=\lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} \frac{1}{n}\dim\frac{U}{C_n(\phi,U)},\) and \(C_n(\phi,F)=F\cap \phi^{-1}(F)\cap \ldots \cap\phi^{-n+1}(F)\). The paper is devoted mainly to prove the formulae that allow to compute the topological entropy of a flow \((V,\phi)\) when a finite field extension is considered. The main theorem (Theorem 4.5) states that for a finite field extension, namely \(\mathbb{F}\leq \mathbb{K}\leq \mathbb{L}\) such that \([\mathbb{L}:\mathbb{F}]<\infty\), for every flow \((V,\phi)\) over the category of locally linearly compact vector spaces over a discrete field \(\mathbb{K}\), the topological entropy is given by \(\mathrm{ent}^*_{\mathbb{F}}(\mathrm{Res}^{\mathbb{K}}_{\mathbb{F}}(V,\phi))=[\mathbb{K}:\mathbb{F}]\cdot \mathrm{ent}^*_{\mathbb{K}}(V,\phi)\) and \(\mathrm{ent}^*_{\mathbb{L}}(\mathrm{Ind}^{\mathbb{L}}_{\mathbb{K}}(V,\phi))= \mathrm{ent}^*_{\mathbb{K}}(V,\phi)\), where \(\mathrm{Res}_{\mathbb{F}}^{\mathbb{K}}(-)\) and \(\mathrm{Ind}_{\mathbb{K}}^{\mathbb{L}}(-)\) are the functors of reduction and extension of scalars.
