In this paper the authors show that, for a given Hausdorff topological zero-dimensional approach space \(X\), its Čech-Stone compactification \(\beta^*(X)\) is zero-dimensional if and only if any pair of disjoint zero sets can be separated by some clopen set and its complement. Then given a Hausdorff zero-dimensional approach space \(X\) with gauge \(\mathcal{G}\), the authors investigate \(\beta^*(X)\) and characterise zero-dimensionality of it by comparing it to the Banaschewski compactification \(\zeta^*(X)\). The notion of \textit{strongly zero-dimensional} is introduced as follows: A Hausdorff zero-dimensional approach space is strongly zero-dimensional if and only if \(\beta^*(X)\) is zero-dimensional. For a Hausdorff topological zero-dimensional approach space, strong zero-dimensionality by definition of the authors coincides with strong zero-dimensionality in the topological sense. Another useful definition in this direction is that of a \textit{\(d_M\)-approach normal} space: A zero-dimensional approach space \(X\) is \(d_M\)-approach normal if and only if \(X\) is strongly zero-dimensional and approach normal. For a topological zero-dimensional approach space, \(d_M\)-approach normality by definition of the authors coincides with ultranormality in the topological sense.
