The paper under review is devoted to the development of a method of localization in bounded sets for the solutions of nonlinear homogenization problems, which allows the presence of multiple solutions. First they consider the following nonlinear problem with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and strongly periodic oscillating coefficients: \[ \begin{cases} -\mathrm{div}(A^\epsilon(x)\nabla u^\epsilon)=g(x)f(u^\epsilon)& \text{ in } \Omega\, ,\\ u^\epsilon=0 & \text{ on } \partial \Omega\, , \end{cases} \] where \(\Omega\) is an open smooth domain of \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \(A^\epsilon\) is a matrix-valued function of periodic fast oscillating coefficients, \(g \in L^\infty(\Omega)\), and \(f\) is a continuous function from \(\mathbb{R}\) to \(\mathbb{R}\). Then the authors fix a subdomain \(\Omega'\) of \(\Omega\) and, for given \(0<r<R\), they look for sufficient conditions on \(f\) and \(g\) ensuring the existence of a solution \(u^\epsilon\) of the problem above such that \[ 0\leq u^\epsilon(x)\leq R \quad \text{ for a.a. } x \in \Omega, \] and \[ r\leq u^\epsilon(x) \quad \text{ for a.a. } x \in \Omega', \] are satisfied for each \(\epsilon\) positive and small enough. They prove that the limit function \(u\) of the sequence \(u^\epsilon\) for \(\epsilon \to 0\) solves uniquely the problem \[ \begin{cases} -\mathrm{div}(A^0(x)\nabla u)=g(x)f(u)& \text{ in } \Omega\, ,\\ u^\epsilon=0 & \text{ on } \partial \Omega\, , \end{cases} \] where \(A^0\) is the homogenized matrix. Moreover, \(u\) satisfies the same boundedness conditions. Finally, they study the localization of solutions of nonlinear systems and show that the localization can be obtained componentwise.
