Let \(R\) be a commutative ring with unity. \(\mathcal{H}\) denotes the set of all rings \(R\) such that \(\mathrm{Nil}(R)\) is a divided prime ideal and let \(T(R)\) be the total quotient ring of \(R\). If \(R\in \mathcal{H}\), then there is a ring homomorphism \(\phi: T(R)\rightarrow R_{\mathrm{Nil}(R)}\), given by \(\phi(r/s)=r/s\), where \(r\in R\) and \(s\in R\setminus Z(R)\). Badawi et al. were studied some generalizations of Prüfer rings, Bezout rings et al. in terms \(\phi\)-properties. The authors of the paper under this review introduce the notion of maximal non chained subrings of a ring and maximal non \(\phi\)-chained subrings of a ring which generalizes the concept of maximal non valuation subrings of a domain and they study the properties this rings. A ring \(R\) is said to be a \(\phi\)-chained if \(R\in \mathcal{H}\) and for each \(x\in R_{\mathrm{Nil}(R)}\setminus R\), we have \(x^{-1}\in R\). A pair \((R,S)\) is said to be \(\phi\)-chained pair, if \(R\subset S\) is a ring extension such that each subring of \(S\) containing \(R\) is a \(\phi\)-chained ring. Finally let \(R\subset S\) be any ring extension. Then \(R\) is said to be a maximal non \(\phi\)-chained subring of \(S\), if \(R\) is not a \(\phi\)-chained ring and every \(T\in[R,S]\setminus\{R\}\) is a \(\phi\)-chained ring and a ring \(R\) is said to be maximal non \(\phi\)-chained ring if it is a maximal non \(\phi\)-chained subring of \(T(R)\).
