A note on the fixed point theorem of Górnicki (Q2312037)

In this note, the authors show that the main result (Theorem 2.6) due to \textit{J. Górnicki} [J. Fixed Point Theory Appl. 21, No. 1, Paper No. 29, 20 p. (2019; Zbl 1470.54058)] is still valid if we replace the assumption of continuity of the mapping by some weaker versions of continuity conditions. As a by-product, they also provide some new answers to an open question of [\textit{B. E. Rhoades}, Contemp. Math. 72, 233--245 (1988; Zbl 0649.54024)]. The results in this paper generalize, enrich and complement the results obtained in [Górnicki, loc.\,cit.].
