Let \(\mathcal U\) be a family of open covers of a space \(X\) and \(\mathcal C\) a property of covers. The authors define several kinds of completeness related to \(\mathcal U\) and \(\mathcal C\): (strong) \(\mathcal U\)-completeness, (strong) \(\mathcal C\)-completeness. In particular, they introduce the notions of point-finitely complete, \(\sigma\)-point-finitely complete, point-countably complete and \(\sigma\)-discretely complete spaces. For example, a space \(X\) is point-countably complete if it is \(\mathcal U\)-complete, where \(\mathcal U\) is the family of all open point-countable covers of \(X\). Relations of these properties with some covering properties and the products of complete spaces are studied. A few applications to the group remainders of topological groups are also discussed.
