    In this paper, the authors introduce Szász-type operators involving Charlier polynomials of blending type as follows: \[ S_{n,a}^{\left[ \beta \right] }\left( f;x\right) =e^{-1}\left( 1-\frac{1}{a} \right) ^{\left( a-1\right) nx}\underset{k=0}{\overset{\infty }{\sum }}\frac{ C_{k}^{\left( a\right) }\left( -\left( a-1\right) nx\right) }{k!}\frac{ \overset{\infty }{\underset{0}{\int }}b_{n,k}^{\left( \beta \right) }\left( t\right) f\left( t\right) dt}{\overset{\infty }{\underset{0}{\int }} b_{n,k}^{\left( \beta \right) }\left( t\right) dt}, \] where \(x\in \lbrack 0,\infty ),\) \(f\in D_{\gamma }[0,\infty ),\) \(a>1,\) \( \beta \in \lbrack 0,1)\) and \(b_{n,k}^{\left( \beta \right) }\) are generalized Szász basis functions, by incorporating Charlier polynomials and the generalization of Szász-type (Szász-Mirakyan-type) operators introduced in [\textit{G. C. Jain}, J. Aust. Math. Soc. 13, 271--276 (1972; Zbl 0232.41003)]. Here, for \(\gamma >0,\) \(D_{\gamma }[0,\infty )\) denotes the space of all continuous functions defined on \([0,\infty )\) satisfying \(\left\vert f(t)\right\vert \leq M\left( 1+t^{\gamma }\right) ,\) for every \(t\in \lbrack 0,\infty )\) and for some \(M>0.\) These operators are the generalizations of the operators studied by Jain [loc. cit.] First, the authors obtain some identities for the moments \(S_{n,a}^{ \left[ \beta \right] }\left( t^{s};x\right) ,\) \(s=0,1,2,3,4,\) which are necessary for the proofs of main theorems\(.\) Then, they prove uniform convergence of the above operators on each compact subset of \([0,\infty )\) for the functions \(f\in D_{\gamma }[0,\infty ).\) Then, using the same operators they obtain an order of approximation in a certain polynomial weighted space and a Lipschitz-type space using a weighted modulus of continuity. Finally, they obtain an estimate for \(\left\vert S_{n,a}^{\left[ \beta \right] }\left( f;x\right) -f(x)\right\vert ,\) where \(f\) is a function with derivative of bounded variation on \([0,\infty ).\)
