The author considers smooth Lie group actions on manifolds, and the problem of determining normal forms for jets of submanifolds. He supposes that the order of jets is taken high enough that the generic jet has trivial stabilizer. After removing jets with nontrivial stabilizer, it is a mild hypothesis to ask that the action admits local slices. The normal forms are the points of a slice; the invariants are the functions on the slice. Each invariant differential operator is the composition: application of a differential operator, restriction to the slice, and then invariant extension off the slice. Olver computes the examples of (i) curves in the Euclidean plane, (ii) curves in the special affine plane, and (iii) curves and (iv) surfaces in Euclidean 3-space. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1405.34003].
