The article is a summary of some results in the preprint [\textit{M. Medvedik} et al., ``Inverse problem of diffraction by an inhomogeneous solid with a piecewise Hölder refractive index'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1803.04701}]. An inverse scattering problem with an unknown piecewise constant refractive index on a parallepiped is considered. Injectivity results are paired with a non-iterative reconstruction scheme. The discussion of the forward problem considers piecewise Hölder refractive indices, in addition to the piecewise constant indices in the inverse problem. The results are based on representing the solution as a Lippmann-Schwinger integral equation within the parallelepid and an integral representation outside it.
