Consider the scalar differential equation \[y''= q(x)f(y)\tag{\(*\)}\] under the conditions \begin{itemize} \item[(i)] \(f:(0,+\infty)\to (0,+\infty)\) is a nonincreasing convex differentiable function.\item[(ii)] The function \(q:(0,1]\to\mathbb{R}\) satisfies \[\int^\lambda_0 f\left(\frac{\lambda x}{2}\right)|q(x)|\,dx<\infty,\ -\int^1_0 xf'\left(\frac{\lambda x}{2}\right)|q(x)|\,dx<\infty,\] where \(\lambda\le 1\) is some positive constant.\end{itemize} The authors prove that under the conditions (i) and (ii) the differential equation \((*)\) has a unique solution \(y(x)\) defined on the interval \((0,\lambda]\) satisfying \[\lim_{x\to+0} y(x)=0,\qquad \lim_{x\to+0} y'(x)= \lambda.\]
