The article under review is a comprehensive collection of notes based on lectures on constructions of mirror symmetry given by Professor Yongbin Ruan at the University of Michigan. Three major constructions, due to Batyrev, Hori-Vafa and Berglund-Hübsch-Krawitz are being reviewed in detail. Mirror symmetry is a phenomenon discovered by physicists interchanging the A-model which is related to deformations of the Kähler structure of a Calabi-Yau and the B model which is related to the deformations of its complex structure. The authors first review Batyrev mirror symmetry using toric constructions, then the construction of Hori-Vafa with particular generalisations to smooth semi-Fano hypersurfaces in toric surfaces is reviewed. In the last chapter, an alternate mirror construction due to Berglund-Hübsch-Krawitz is discussed comprehensively, which interchanges the Landau-Ginzburg A-model of a polynomial and the Landau-Ginzburg B-model of its mirror polynomial. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1411.14003].
