Let \(G\) be a Lie group equipped with a left-invariant distribution \(H\) and a sub-Riemannian metric. One studies the heat conduction equation \(\partial _tp(t,x)=\Delta_Hp(t,x)\). \textit{U. Boscain} et al. [J. Math. Sci., New York 199, No. 6, 614--628 (2014; Zbl 1309.58001); translation from Sovrem. Mat., Fundam. Napravl. 42, 48--61 (2011)] studied this problem and used a generalized noncommutative Fourier transform to reduce the problem of finding a fundamental solution to the heat equation to solving the problem \[ \partial_t\psi(t,\theta)=(\partial_\theta^2-(\alpha^2\theta^2+\beta^2)^2)\psi(t,\theta) \] where \(\alpha>0\) and \(\beta\in\mathbb{R}\) are expressible in terms of variables on the Pontrjagin dual \(\hat G\). Taking the Fourier transform in \(t\) and examining the anharmonic oscillator of degree 4 yields a relation between \(\psi\) and the triconfluent Heun function which is a special function.
