The author studies the construction of frames, Parseval frames and orthonormal bases generated by a compactly supported window in a Lie group. In particular, let \(G\) be a Lie group and let \(H\) be a connected closed subgroup of \(G\). Let \(\pi\) be a unitary representation of \(G\) realized as acting in the Hilbert space \(L^2(H,d_{d\mu H})\), where \({d\mu H}\) is a left Haar measure on \(H\). The author studies conditions under which it is possible to find a discrete subset \(\Gamma\) of \(G\) and a bounded and compactly supported function \(f\) on \(H\) such that the system \(\{\pi(\gamma)f:\gamma \in \Gamma\}\) is either a frame or a Parseval frame or an orthonormal basis. He shows that such a discrete set \(\Gamma\) exists and the function \(f\) can be constructed to be continuous. Frame bounds are also provided for such frames.
