The parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel model of chemotaxis \[ \begin{aligned} u_t=\nabla\cdot(D(u)\nabla u -S(u)\nabla v), \\ \Delta v-v+u=0, \end{aligned} \] is studied with the diffusion term \(D(u)\ge a_0(1+u)^{-q}\) and the sensitivity function \(0\le S(u)\le b_0u(1+u)^{\alpha-q-1}\) with real \(q\) and \(\alpha>2/n\). The main results include global-in-time existence of solutions with the initial data \(u_0\) of small size in \(L^{n\alpha/2}\), together with their large time behavior.
