Let \(M^n\) be a Bott manifold [\textit{R. Bott} and \textit{H. Samelson}, Am. J. Math. 80, 964--1029 (1961; Zbl 0101.39702)], \(M^n\) is called \(\mathbb Z\)-trivial if its integral cohomology ring \(H^*(M;\mathbb Z)\) is ring isomorphic to \(H^*(({\mathbb P}^1)^n;\mathbb Z)\). If \(n=2\), \(n\) is the complex dimension of \(M^n\), the \(\mathbb Z\)-trivial complex Bott manifolds are Hirzebruch surfaces \({\mathbb F}_{2k}\). For general complex dimension \(n\) they are compact Kähler manifolds diffeomorphic to \((S^2)^n\). A Bott diagram is associated to each \(n\)-dimensional \(\mathbb Z\)-trivial complex Bott manifold. The main result of this paper states that the Bott diagrams classify \(\mathbb Z\)-trivial complex Bott manifolds up to biholomorphisms.
