The paper under review considers the two-dimensional gravity water wave equation in a regime where the free interface is allowed to be non-\(C^1\). The difficulty in this regime is that only a degenerate Taylor inequality \(-\frac{\partial P}{\partial n}\geq 0\) holds, with degeneracy at the singularities. Previously, \textit{R. H. Kinsey} and \textit{S. Wu} [Camb. J. Math. 6, No. 2, 93--181 (2018; Zbl 1402.35226)] constructed an energy functional, and an a prori estimate was proved. This functional is not only finite for interfaces and velocities in Sobolev spaces, but also finite for a class of non-\(C^1\) interfaces with angled crests. In this paper, the author proves the existence, uniqueness and stability of the solution of the 2d gravity water wave equation in the class where the ``energy'' is bounded, locally in time, for any given data with bounded ``energy''.
