A Banach space \(X\) is called superstable if each Banach space which is finitely represented in it is stable in the sense of \textit{J.-L. Krivine} and \textit{B. Maurey} [ibid. 39, 273--295 (1981; Zbl 0504.46013)]. \textit{Y. Raynaud} [ibid. 44, 33--52 (1983; Zbl 0537.46023)], developing the ideas of Krivine and Maurey [loc. cit.], proved that a Banach space which admits a uniform embedding into a superstable Banach space contains an isomorphic copy of some \(\ell_p\) \((1\le p<\infty)\). Developing the ideas of Raynaud [loc. cit.], the authors of the present paper prove that a Banach space which admits a coarse embedding into a superstable Banach space has a spreading model isomorphic to \(\ell_p\) for some \(1\le p<\infty\). As a corollary, the authors get that there exists a reflexive Banach space which does not admit a coarse embedding into any superstable Banach space.
