A semiring, \(S\), is, loosely speaking, a ring where addition and multiplication are only required to satisfy the axioms for a monoid, with addition also required to be commutative. One can define semimodules over semirings and then look for free objects in the category of such modules over sets and topological spaces. In the present paper this is done for finite semirings and free profinite semimodules -- the proper definitions can be found in the paper. For compact zero-dimensional spaces this free object turns out to be the algebra of finitely additive \(S\)-valued functions on the Boolean algebra of clopen sets. The final part of the paper obtains continuous density functions for such measures, also in the case of profinite semirings.
