    Summary: It is proved that any first-order globally periodic linear inhomogeneous autonomous difference equation defined by a linear operator with closed range in a Banach space has an equilibrium. This result is extended for higher order linear inhomogeneous system in a real or complex Euclidean space. The work was highly motivated by the early works of \textit{P. A. Smith} [Ann. Math. (2) 35, 572--578 (1934; Zbl 0009.41101); Am. J. Math. 63, 1--8 (1941; Zbl 0024.19004)] and the papers of \textit{J. M. Kister} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 67, 471--474 (1961; Zbl 0101.15602)] and \textit{A. Linero Bas} [in: Proceedings of the workshop on future directions in difference equations, Vigo, Spain, June 13--17, 2011.
