\(B_\pi^R\)-matrices provide a generalization of \(B\)-matrices. Here, \(\pi=(\pi_1,\dots,\pi_n)\) is a real vector with \(0< \sum_{i=1}^n\pi_i\leq 1\). The authors present some basic properties of such matrices and prove a series of results to check whether the (sub-)direct sum of \(B_\pi^R\)-matrices or a (sub-)direct summand of a \(B_\pi^R\)-matrix is still a \(B_\pi^R\)-matrix with respect to different vectors \(\pi\).
