Let \(F\) be a global field. Let \(G\) and \(H\) be connected reductive groups defined over \(F\). Let \(f:H\to G\) be an \(F\)-morphism such that the derived morphism \(H_{\operatorname{der}}\to G_{\operatorname{der}}\) on the derived groups is a central isogeny. Denote by \(\mathbb{A}\) the ring of \(F\)-adèles. The main result asserts: Given any irreducible cuspidal representation \(\pi\) of \(G(\mathbb{A})\), its restriction to \(f(H(\mathbb{A}))\) contains a cuspidal representation \(\sigma\) of \(H(\mathbb{A})\). Conversely, if moreover \(f\) is an injection, any irreducible cuspidal representation \(\sigma\) of \(H(\mathbb{A})\) appears in the restriction of some cuspidal representation \(\pi\) of \(G(\mathbb{A})\).
