The aim of this paper is to determine the general solution of the so-called \(n\)-th degree radical functional equation, that is, \[ f\left(\sqrt[n]{x^{n}+y^{n}}\right)=f(x)+f(y) \qquad \left(x, y\in [0, +\infty[\right). \] Furthermore, the authors investigate the stability of this functional equation. Their proof uses a fixed point theorem of \textit{J. Brzdęk} [Fixed Point Theory Appl. 2013, Paper No. 285, 9 p. (2013; Zbl 1297.39026)].
