Toeplitz algebras can be vieved as the \(C^*\)-algebras associated with a Hilbert space \(H\). (They are generated by isometries with orthogonal ranges and the dimension of \(H\) indicates the number of isometries; Cuntz algebras are quotients of Toeplitz algebras.) This has been pushed forward into several direction. In particular, \(H\) is a \(C^*\)-correspondence over \(\mathbf C\) and \textit{M. V. Pimsner} [Fields Inst. Commun. 12, 189--212 (1997; Zbl 0871.46028)] has considered Toeplitz algebras generated by (more) general \(C^*\)-correspondences. The Toeplitz algebra of a \(C^*\)-correspondence \(E\) may also be considered as the so-called spectral \(C^*\)-algebra of the discrete product system \((E^{\otimes n})_{n\in\mathbf{N}_0}\). Product systems of Hilbert spaces over the monoid \(\mathbf{R}_+\) and their spectal \(C^*\)-algebras have been introduced by \textit{W. Arveson} [Continuous analogues of Fock space. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (1989; Zbl 0697.46035)]. Product systems of \(C^*\)-correspondences (over \(\mathbf{R}_+\) or over \(\mathbf{N}_0\)) have appeared in [\textit{B. V. R. Bhat} and \textit{M. Skeide}, Infin. Dimens. Anal. Quantum Probab. Relat. Top. 3, No. 4, 519--575 (2000; Zbl 1002.46033)]. While there were earlier publications considering product systems of Hilbert spaces over more general monoids, \textit{N. J. Fowler} [Pac. J. Math. 204, No. 2, 335--375 (2002; Zbl 1059.46034)] discussed the case of \(C^*\)-correspondences, which is also the basis of the present article. The main result is a uniqueness resuts for (faithful) representations of the Toeplitz algebras of compactly aligned product systems. Remark: It would be interesting to know how restrictive the condition to be compactly aligned might be.
