The author introduces the total variation distance for finite quantum groups and studies the convergence to the uniform distribution (i.e. Haar state) of random walks on finite quantum groups in the total variation distance. He shows how to obtain upper and lower bounds for this distance using Fourier analysis. The duals of the permutation groups \(S_n\) and the family of finite quantum groups of \textit{Y.~Sekine} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 124, No.~4, 1139--1147 (1996; Zbl 0845.46031)] are considered as examples.
