Continuing work begun in [\textit{J.-i. Itoh} and \textit{C. Nara}, Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 7033, 108--121 (2011; Zbl 1349.51010)] on the continuous flat-folding process of a polyhedron, the authors extend the results obtained previously for \(3\)-dimensional polyhedra to some \(n\)-dimensional polytopes. To this aim, they consider the set of \(2\)-dimensional faces for a polytope, i.e., the \(2\)-dimensional skeleton (\(2\)-skeleton) of it. After defining a continuous flat-folding process of the \(2\)-skeleton of a polytope, they propose the problem of finding a continuous flat-folding process of the \(2\)-skeleton for any given regular polytope. Having showed in another paper (not yet published) that ``for any given hypercube there is a continuous flat folding process of the \(2\)-skeleton onto any of its square face \(F\) such that all square faces parallel to \(F\) are rigid, that is, have no crease during the motion,'' they now prove that there is a continuous flat folding process of the \(2\)-skeleton for any regular \(n\)-simplex (as well as one for any regular \(n\)-cross-polytope) such that at least two thirds of the edges and two ninths of the triangular faces are rigid.
