A monoid is considered as an algebra with an associative binary operation and the nullary operation that fixes the identity element. Let \(\mathbf V\) be a variety of monoids and \(L({\mathbf V})\) denote the lattice of all subvarieties of \(\mathbf V\). In general the question is if a class of monoid varieties whose subvarieties lattices satisfy some conditions is closed with respect to the join of the varieties. Two monoid varieties \(\mathbf M\) and \(\mathbf N\) with finite lattices \(L({\mathbf M})\) and \(L({\mathbf N})\) are built. The main result is the Theorem 1.1. which states that join of varieties \(\mathbf N\) and \(\mathbf M\) covers one of them ``and has a continuum cardinality subvariety lattice that violates the ascending chain condition and the descending chain condition''.
