The notion of metric on categories introduced by \textit{F. W. Lawvere} [Rend. Semin. Mat. Fis. Milano 43, 135--166 (1974; Zbl 0335.18006)], see also [\textit{F. W. Lawvere}, Repr. Theory Appl. Categ. 2002, No. 1, 1--37 (2002; Zbl 1078.18501)]. The main aim of the present paper is to study the completions of metric triangulated category. In the main result of the paper, Theorem 15, the author constructs in a natural way a triangulated structure on the completion of a triangulated category which is endowed with a good metric. He notes that the completion is constructed by using the remark that the Yoneda functor embeds the initial category in a cocomplete category, so he can consider the closure of the initial category with respect to colimits, Definition 4. The result is applied to the homotopy category of finite spectra, Example 22, and to the bounded derived category of finitely generated modules over noetherian rings, Example 23, and the derived category of perfect complexes of modules over noetherian rings, Example 25. This last applications is connected with \textit{T. Barthel}'s paper [``Completing perfect complexes'', Peprint, \url{arXiv:1805.10751}].
