This paper is concerned with the asymptotic analysis of the vertex amplitudes in EPRL spin foam models. It is shown that in both Euclidean and Lorentzian signature (with spacelike faces) the Hessian is nondegenerate for every stationary point that corresponds to a nondegenerate four-simplex.
