    The paper under review deals with the averaging principle for the following boundary-value problem for the Swift--Hohenberg equation: \[ \begin{cases} u_t-u_{xxxx}+2u_{xx}+\beta u+u^3=f\left(x,\frac{t}{\varepsilon}\right) & \text{in } Q,\\ u(0,t)=u(1,t)=0 & \text{in } (0,T),\\ u_{xx}(0,t)=u_{xx}(1,t)=0 & \text{in } (0,T),\\ u(x,0)=u_0(x) & \text{in } I, \end{cases} \] where \(\varepsilon\) and \(\beta\) are positive constants, \(I=(0,T)\) with \(T>0\) and \(Q=I\times (0,T).\) Employing a standard approach, the author establishes averaging principles in the time-periodic problem, in the case of a finite time interval, and averaging principle on the entire axis.
