    The following is the main result: Let \(n \geq 4\) and let \(D \subseteq \mathbb{C}^n\) be a pseudoconvex domain. Let \(\varphi \colon D \to [-\infty, +\infty)\) be a non-constant plurisubharmonic function such that \(\exp \circ \varphi\) is continuous and such that for every \(r < \sup_D \varphi\) the sublevel set \(\{ z \in D \,:\, \varphi(z) \leq r \}\) is compact. Then the natural map \[ H^k(D; \mathbb{C}) \qquad \longrightarrow \qquad \lim_{ \overrightarrow{\mathop{\mathrm{supp}} i \partial \overline{\partial} \, \varphi \subset V } } H^k(V; \mathbb{C}) \] is an isomorphism for \(k < \max\{1 , n - 4 \}\) and is injective for \(k = \max\{1 , n - 4 \}\), where the inductive limit is taken over all open subsets \(V\) in \(D\) that contain \(\mathop{\mathrm{supp}} i \partial \overline{\partial} \, \varphi\) which is understood as the support of the corresponding current. This result is motivated by the Lefschetz hyperplane theorem for compact Kähler manifolds, see [\textit{S. Lefschetz}, Collection de monographies sur la théorie des fonctions. Paris: Gauthier-Villars (1924; JFM 50.0663.01)] and [\textit{R. Bott}, Mich. Math. J. 6, 211--216 (1959; Zbl 0113.36502)]. An important analytic ingredient is the idea of Berndtsson's proof of the the Donnelly-Feffermann \(L^2\)-estimate, see [\textit{B. Berndtsson}, Ann. Inst. Fourier 46, No. 4, 1083--1094 (1996; Zbl 0853.32024); \textit{B. Berndtsson} and \textit{P. Charpentier}, Math. Z. 235, No. 1, 1--10 (2000; Zbl 0969.32015)].
