Let \(G\) be a \(p\)-solvable group and let \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) be the \(p\)th cyclotomic extension of \(\mathbb{Q}\), where \(p\) is any prime. The author shows that \(|\text{cd}_{\mathbb{Q}_p,p'}(G)|\) is an upper bound for the \(p\)-length \(l_p(G)\) of \(G\), where \(|\text{cd}_{\mathbb{Q}_p,p'}(G)|\) is the number of distinct irreduible character degrees of \(G\) inside \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) which are coprime to \(p\).
